    Today’s Farmers Market Haul…

While we ready our soul and build our garden for next year, we are grateful for the farmer at the farmers market who put in the work to bring us amazing fruits and vegetables. They are a blessing to our family and we are thankful for the hard work they put into their crops and ranches.

“Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest.”
    ‭‭~ Proverbs‬ ‭20:4‬

  • Book Review: The Warrior Soul

    Book Review: The Warrior Soul

    AMAZING BOOK!

If you are a history buff (like me) or a veteran/current enlisted military…you’ll love this book.

It dives into some of the greatest battles in American history. And it walks the reader through how God showed up in those battles to advance the cause of Christianity.

The authors , Jerry Boykin and Stu Webber, also lay out God’s plan for the Christian and how our walk in this world is mor like a soldier with the heart of a warrior instead of an observer. We must be willing, ready, and able to enter the fight against Satin and his war of destruction against all that is good and holy!

The authors themselves have each been a part of some of the greatest battles in American history (boots on the ground as American soldiers), and they prove without a shadow of a doubt that God was present in the battles they experienced, even in the midst of death, and He is still present in the battlefield of life!

Do yourself a solid and read this book! It is well worth the read!

Crazy About Being Healthy: Courtney Is A Loser; Men Are Pansies: Encouragement Is Critical

Healthy living is a choice! Not necessarily an easy #choice.

The easy choice is to keep sitting in that chair watching reruns of #Friends of playing #videogames while sucking down #soda and #pizza.

The harder, yet better, choice is to get up, put one foot in front of the other, and start walking towards a #BETTERYOU

Today we talk briefly about Courtney’s continued progress. She’s a Rock Star! We talk a little about the latest book I’m reading AND the pansyfication of American men. And we talk about encouraging one another on our healthy lifestyle journey!

  • Runners Toe: The Coverup

    Runners Toe: The Coverup

Courtney got tired of looking at my #runners toe (fyi I #walk…I don’t #run…if you see a #fatman #running …don’t ask questions…just RUN). So…she painted it with flesh colored nail paint. The blood infested toenail is trying hard to come through. The things we do for our #wives!

  • Heard In Church Today…

    Heard In Church Today…
    Heard In Church This Morning

Today’s church is MESSED UP y’all…but it’s still worth fighting for!

Our indifference…will never make a difference!

There were 3 groups of people in the church at Corinth:
    a) Spiritual mature Christians
    b) Unsaved men/women
    c) CARNAL/WORLDLY Christians

The “carnal / worldly Christians need to GROW UP!!!

3 Truths About Our Spiritual Maturity:

    1. We all start at the SAME place!

“Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.”
    ‭‭~ 1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:1-2‬

We all start off as an infant in Christ…but we must grow up!

    “people who are still worldly”
    Worldly- weak, young, unlearned, immature.

Questions we need to ask ourselves:
    Where am I at spiritually?
Am I getting older BUT not growing up?

    2. We all struggle with a SIMILAR problem!

“I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
    ‭‭~ 1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:2-6‬

“Indeed you are still not READY”

The “ready” comes from the Greek word “dunamai” which is where we also get the word Dynamite. It literally means the power to ACT or POWER TO ACCOMPLISH a desired result.

As we grow spiritually…our ACTIONS will define who we are, and more importantly, who HE is!

The devil doesn’t mind Jesus being “A” priority…he just doesn’t want Jesus to be “THE” priority of our lives!

“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
    ‭‭~ Revelation‬ ‭3:15-16‬

    3. We should all STRIVE for progress…not perfection!

“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.”
    ‭‭~ 1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:7-8‬

“…but ONLY GOD, who makes things GROW.”

    Grow-To consistently increase in size.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
    ‭‭~ Philippians‬ ‭1:6‬

GOD WILL NEVER GROW YOU…WITHOUT YOU!

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
    ‭‭~ Ephesians‬ ‭4:14-15‬

2 Ways To GROW UP And Make Progress In Our Spiritual Maturity:

    1. Get Into The WORD: Hear it! Read it! Study it! Memorize it! Meditate on it! APPLY IT!

““Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
    ‭‭~ Acts‬ ‭20:32‬

    2. Do Life TOGETHER In Community: We cannot GROW ourselves by ourselves! We BECOME like Jesus TOGETHER!

“I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”
    ‭‭~ Romans‬ ‭1:11-12‬

Healthy Habits: Courtney Down; Cantaloupes; Worshipping God; Fiddle Playing

We are out at the farmers market. Actually we hit two of them today. We hit the one in Round Rock, Texas and the one in Lakeline mall in Cedar Park. We got a lot of meat…a lot of meat, got tons of vegetables too

Anyway, we got a lot of groceries. And actually I am waiting for Courtney. She went into the store to get a cantaloupe, cuz I gotta have my cantaloupe and we didn’t see any at the farmers markets.

Really cool announcement today…Courtney is now 15 pounds down in the three and a half to four weeks that she’s been “going healthy. She does her one workout a day, she is reading a self help book too, she is dieting also…although…is what we’re doing really a diet?

It’s just that we’re watching our caloric intake. I mean…I was eating 3400 calories a day and now I’m doing 2000 Sometimes a little over…sometimes a little under, but I’m trying to stay in that 2000-2200 range. And then I’m walking twice a day she’s walking once a day.

So proud of that girl. 15 pounds down…and again it’s only been three and a half weeks since she started her health journey.

Obviously her diet changed when my diet changed because for us to eat like we were eating and and also eat healthy like this was going to be expensive, so she opted to go for the healthy diet. Which, honestly, since we’ve been married, she’s always eaten fruits and vegetables and things like that so she loves it…proud of that girl.

It’s June 9, day 56 of 75 Hard…really a 56 of our overall lifestyle change. It’s been going great loving shopping at the farmers markets, It’s a blast. There’s so much stuff there that I would like to buy…but I really can’t…not right now. The Cedar Park farmers market had empanadas…guy making them right there. Y’all come on now. Filled with fruit…YUMMY!

FYI…Update coming soon about 75 Hard being “over”.

Read some amazing stuff in my book today. I’m gonna post about it later, but the gist is…we need to stop studying God and we need to start worshiping God! it’s one thing to to know about God but it’s it’s more important that we know God. I think that is so important in today’s age that we just stop studying him so much. He’s amazing God! We can study about God and “get wise”, but the wise…not always the smartest.

We got to start worshipping God because he’s an awesome God. He deserves to be worshipped. He created us He created everything. He’s amazing.

My salvation is what Jesus is…my salvation and he deserves to be worshipped! Studied a bit….worshipped all the time. So that that’s the Word for today.

It’s gonna be a great day. It’s a Saturday afternoon in our hometown. There is a fiddle Festival, it’s actually a music festival, but in the afternoon they always have fiddle players come out. That’s my music….my people. So happy to see that afternoon. Looking forward to that!

Y’all have a blessed day. I will see you next time…Peace!
