Welcome awesome human!!! That right! You’re AWESOME!
Today, I want to go deeper into mindset. More importantly, the mindset shift that helped me and Courtney achieved major weight loss goals. It wasn’t a magical pill or weight loss surgery that has helped us lose a massive amount of weight…it was simply change in attitude. The journey was not just about physical changes; it was a profound mental and emotional transformation.
So, fasten your seatbelts and get ready to discover how the first step in changing our circumstances is changing our attitude!
Embracing the Power of Attitude:
Imagine waking up one day, feeling tired, unhappy, and trapped in a body that doesn’t reflect who you truly are. That was my reality just over a year ago. I had tried numerous diets and exercise plans, only to experience short-lived success or, worse, rebound weight gain. Frustrated and discouraged, I decided it was time to change my approach.

Shifting from Limitations to Possibilities:
The turning point in my journey came when I realized that my attitude towards weight loss was holding me back. Instead of focusing on the obstacles and limitations, I began to shift my mindset towards the endless possibilities that lay ahead. I started viewing my weight loss journey as an opportunity for personal growth and transformation.
I honestly had to stop thinking about overnight success and start viewing my healthy lifestyle as a lifelong journey. Courtney and I decided early on…the changes we were (and are) making aren’t impacting “our right now”…they are impacting “our forever”.
Cultivating a Positive Mindset:
To change my attitude, I had to cultivate a positive mindset. I started practicing daily affirmations, visualizing my success, and surrounding myself with motivational resources. <can you say 75 Hard!>This helped me reframe my challenges as opportunities to learn and grow stronger. Slowly but steadily, I began to believe in my ability to make lasting changes.
I can’t stress enough the importance of visualizing who you will become and what your life will look like in the future. By self-visualizing, we are actually creating the roadmap for our success. We can’t get to where we’re going if we don’t know the destination! Find you a “fight song” (a song that pumps you up) and sit in your favorite chair while playing the song with your eyes closed…and envision what you want to accomplish in life. It actually works y’all!
Setting Realistic Milestones & Goals:
One crucial aspect of changing our attitude is setting realistic goals. I realized that aiming for long-term success required breaking down my weight loss journey into manageable steps. Each milestone I reached became a cause for celebration, reinforcing my positive mindset and fueling my motivation to keep going.
One concept I’ve learned to embrace and practice throughout my life is the idea of “chunking”. As a person with dyslexia and ADD (borderline ADHD), chunking has saved my life. I simply look at a task I want to achieve, and break it down into smaller, more manageable steps. It truly makes task achievement easier!
Embracing a Holistic Lifestyle:
Beyond physical changes, I discovered that adopting a holistic lifestyle was essential for sustainable weight loss. I incorporated healthy eating habits, regular exercise, and self-care practices into my daily routine. This holistic approach not only helped me shed the pounds but also enhanced my overall well-being and happiness.
Faith, Family, Fitness, and Farmers Markets! That’s the strategy that’s worked for us since the very beginning. We don’t deviate from that foundation. We dance with who bring us!!!
Overcoming Obstacles with Resilience:
No transformation journey is without its fair share of challenges. I faced moments of doubt, plateaus, and even occasional setbacks. However, by maintaining a resilient attitude, I learned to bounce back stronger. I embraced these obstacles as opportunities to learn valuable lessons, reinforcing my determination to succeed.
Hemingway said it best, and I truly believe it, “The world breaks everyone, and afterwards, many are strong at the broken places”. Failure, setbacks, a swift kick in the nuts…however you want to describe it…is a natural thing. We all go through challenges, they’re inevitable. BUT what we do with those challenges define us. Learn to learn from your failures. If you eat “crappy” one day…don’t fret. Find out why you did and make a plan to do better next time. THAT’S HOW LIFE WORKS!
Inspiring Others and Making a Difference:
As I continued on my journey, something incredible happened. People started noticing my transformation and reaching out to me for advice and support. I realized that my own success could be a catalyst for inspiring positive change in others. By sharing my story and providing guidance, I discovered my passion for being a personal development coach. I honestly wat to help any…and everybody I can become the best person they can be.
I want to take the “Move Forward! Don’t Suck! Every Day!” mentality to the masses. I want to share the experiences that helped Courtney and I crush (and continue to crush) our milestones and goals.
Bible Basics:
One biblical scripture that aligns with the idea of changing our attitude to change our circumstances is Romans 12:2:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
This scripture emphasizes the importance of renewing our minds and transforming our thinking patterns. It encourages us to break free from worldly attitudes and align ourselves with God’s will. By changing our mindset and adopting a new perspective, we open ourselves up to experiencing positive change and discovering God’s purpose for our lives.
Bottom Line Y’all:
Losing 200 pounds and maintaining that weight loss has been an awe-inspiring journey, both physically and mentally. Through changing my attitude and adopting a positive mindset, I discovered the power within me to overcome any obstacle. The first step in changing our circumstances truly is changing our attitude!
I want you to know, you have the ability to transform your life. Embrace a positive mindset, set realistic goals, and cultivate resilience. Together, let’s embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, where anything is possible. Believe in yourself, and you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve!
